Personal learning theroy

What? My personal learning theroy is using a balnced mix between all four learning theories. I thnk that all of the therioes have something that I can use in them. I think that in the Behaviorist theory I like the concept of positive reinforcement. However I do not like the idea of rewarding students for everything that they do. In Constructivism I like the idea of Discovery Learning. I think that this is a great way for students to learn and to remember what they have learned. In the Social Cognitive theory I like the idea of Modeling. I think that students do learn best when something is modeled for them first. In the cognitive psychology I like the idea of scaffolding and using students zone of proxiaml development. When I took the test on learning styles it said that I was more Behaviorst. I think that this is probally accurate because I do like the idea of using points to motive students. I just don't think that they need to be used for eveything. I also feel that students need to do something great that they would not normally do if they were not motivated. I know being motivated helps me to accomplish more in my life.

So What?- I think that being more behaviorist will effect my classroom because I am more likely to motivate students to go above and beyond their normal level. However I don't think that I will use a token economy for things that students should already be doing. For example, reading, writing, homework, etc... One thing that I think would be good to do with the students is to have each student have their own goal. When they reach that goal they are then rewarded for their efforts. I also want to be able to teach students how to reward themselves. So it is not always some one else giving them the reward.

Now What?- Now I am going to study more about the behaviorist theory. I want to learn about the effects that a token economy has on students. I want to also learn more about discovery learning. I want to know if it helps students to discover their own learning in all subjects or just certain ones.
